Windows Server 2008 is reaching the end of its support life cycle

The January 14 2020 deadline is soon approaching, where Microsoft will no longer offer extended support for Windows Server 2008.

This means it’s important to take action sooner rather than later to remain secure. As of the January 14 deadline, there will be no additional:

  • Free security updates on-premises
  • Non-security updates
  • Free support option
  • Online technical content update

What happens if you don’t do anything about it?

If you don’t take action before the deadline on January 14 you may be putting your business at risk. After this date, Windows will no longer offer bug fixes and security updates. This means that these systems are likely to be more vulnerable to the likes of cyber-attacks and compliance violations.

So what do you need to do?

You will need to upgrade. Yes – Microsoft will be able to help you with modernising your business software. If you’re a 2008 Windows Server customer, Microsoft has a variety of options to help you move from an outdated server to something that is more suitable and convenient for your business.
