Softaculous is an auto installer for popular control panels such as cPanel, Plesk and DirectAdmin.
It allows you to install apps and software easily such as WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Magento, the list goes on.
Softaculous is free at it’s basic level. There are options to subscribe to the premium version for a small fee which gives you the ability to install up to 417 Scripts instead of the 55 on the free version. You can find out more about that here.
This guide assumes you have the following
- Root access to your server
- WHM installed
- cPanel Set up
First you need to ensure that Ioncube loader is enabled in WHM
Log into WHM
Go to Server Configuration > Tweak Settings
Scroll down to PHP and tick the ioncube box and hit save.
Log into your server via SSH.
You can use something like PuTTY to do this.
Type the following commands,
wget -N http://files.softaculous.com/install.sh chmod 755 install.sh ./install.sh –quick
It should now begin installing Softaculous. Give it a few minutes for this to complete.
Once complete, that’s it. You’re done.
Log into your cPanel and you should see the Softaculous Apps Installer in your Software menu.
Now you have Softaculous installed, you can now easily install all sorts of software with ease with minimal technical knowledge.
